Weighting
Supp app scores are percentiles and compete directly against GPA.
A 90% average scoring 95+ on the supp app can be admitted over a 98% average scoring below 80.
| Supp app score | GPA | Outcome | Count |
|---|---|---|---|
| >95 | 90% and above | Offer | 50 |
| 90–94 | Low 90s and above | Offer | 100 |
| 85–89 | Mid 90s and above | Offer | 150 |
| 80–84 | High 90s and above | Uncertain | Not published |

05
Traps
01
A high GPA does not get you in
The supp app is weighed in consort with your average, and the two compete. Applicants treating it as a formality after hitting 90% are the ones who don't get offers.
02
MNS is not the only McMaster health code
MNS is the BHSc. It is not MLH (Honours Health & Society) and not the Life Sciences Gateway. Applicants routinely list the wrong one.
06
Prep
- Shape
- Revision, not rehearsal
- Time
- 1–2 weeks
Writing the responses takes 1–2 hours. The time goes into revising: tightening hooks, cutting adjectives, fitting 1,500 characters.
